confused as ever

In case you haven't heard or read the comment Mal left me (thanks girl) on the previous post, I wanted to let you guys know, that my friend David Gilbert died Thursday as a result of brain strokes caused by his lymphoma. It's with great emotion and confusion that I tell you this. I could ramble on and on, I'm sure, about why I'm so confused, but I'll spare you all. Father's ways are just way freakin higher than mine are, and I trust that many, many people will come to know Him through this situation. dang.

please, please lift this stuff up:
- comfort for the Gilbert's (mom, dad, two bro's) during this crazy season
- comfort for Jennifer Leftwitch who was David's sweet girlfriend
- that this situation will open up doors all over A&M's campus for the Happy News to go out and touch and change lives.

I do take great comfort knowing that David is, right now as your eyes read this post, singing and dancing will all his might in his glorified body, staring into the eyes of JC's beautiful face, and just enjoying perfect intimacy with his Creator. That, friends, is something to look forward to indeed.

Happy Father's Day Pop's, I love you.

d.o. and jon: (this is copied to both of you) i've been lifting yall up a lot this week... i can't help but think about last summer when i was in india. i get excited with each new post just to catch a glipse of something bigger than myself. it's sweet to have bros who can share with us just one more piece of someone else's reality. man, how i need those reminders of how big our dad is and yet how he still faithfully talks to me. live each day to the fullest and declare our dad's character... tonight at club, bill mcgee talked about how we can share about dad best through our difficulties and struggles rather than what we're good at, or the things we think we've got all together. use what you have, where you are... praise him for doing the rest. you guys are a blessing to me! yarpin it up in aggieland, brooke

Alright So I'll leave a serious post...D.O., you are an incredible blessing in my life and have been for several years now. I am feeling it right now just to lift you up for strength and perseverance over these last few days and weeks. I know you are having a blast and loving every second of it, but I can also imagine days get hard and long. Continue to rest upon the promises and stand FIRM bro. What you do this very day will have eternal significance!!! How good HE is! Live this day recklessly abandoned to the cause! You are missed and loved my friend! As the martyr's prayer says "my life for the cross" Give it your everying! PEACES

Remember when we sang "this little light of mine" in Burger King with the Pokemon stuff? Remember when we chewed up pickles and spit them out and we switched them and ate em up? Remember when Bryan scraped his eye with some sand? What about that time we wrestled in Colorado and got carpet burns? Maybe that time we did extreme bike riding on campus and broke our bikes? How about when we would fill out those stupid forever long surveys and crack up because they were so funny? Man we have had some good times. I'll make another list for you in a few days. Keep it up dude. Hike like a true Mexican!!!

DERRICK!
So good to hear how you're doing. I must admit the gifts of technology are incredible. You're stinkin on the other side of the world reading this!
Neat how Father brings you to mind often this summer. Anytime I'm thinkin or PR or even listing to others PR for those overseas, HE reminds me. Pretty tight. Well, I look forward to catching up -- which will mostly entail you telling me awesome stories --someday soon.
Just a thought for you. . . As I sit here in CS this summer, I'm consistantly reminded of the important uniqueness of THIS day. We only have it once. There'll be none other like it. For a passionate guy like yourself I hope that that thought gets you excited about LIVIN IT UP!(like it does me). Suck the ADVENTURE out of every hour that you have. Don't waste a second, DO. "BE ALWAYS PREPARED FOR ACTION!"
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hey bud, we (mom, Lauren and I) just finished watching Spanglish. What a show! Been thinking about you this week. I have had a strong sense from the Father that He has given you quite a week. I imahgine that you are running on His energy. Isn't it wonderful. I was reading about the first time that the H/S appeared. You remember, at P'cost. How wonderful that must have been! I know that the same H/S has also been with you and the team. I am so proud that you allow Him to use you. And we are so anxious to have you back soon. We are lifting the team up for strength, good health and undying compassion for those you meet there. Get your rest and be strong!

p.s. Thanks again for your call last Sunday. Biggest gift I've ever received.
